Feline Vestibular Disease?

Had a terrible shock this morning when I found my gorgeous Maine Coon, Rufus, unable to walk and swaying his head. His eyes were darting everywhere, and he'd been sick. Sad Rushed him to the emergency vet, which is where he now is.

I live in Switzerland, and my German is okay, but not always when it comes to technical, medical jargon. The vet definitely said it was a vestibular problem, which could be idiopathic or caused by a tumour.

Does anyone have any experience of this? When I googled I got the name 'feline vestibular disease' and so I'm hoping it's this, not a tumour. he's only 3 years old, so not an old cat at all.

He had blood tests done this morning, which came back clear - would cancer show elevated levels of anything?

He has to stay there for observation for the next few days at least, as he can't eat due to the dizziness, so is on a drip + antibiotics. I can go and visit him (which is nice - my vet doesn't allow that!) so I'll try to hack through in bad Deutsch and find out anything else. I just want so reassurance I guess...MrVeenyCat is away on business, and this is only the second day of my holiday (teacher) so I'm feeling very sad and alone right now!
