Cat seems unbothered by hot weather??

Hello all

Am I being neurotic about this? My furry little weirdo seems completely un-bothered by this weather, whilst I am worrying about heat stroke and dehydration.

We had a cat flap fitted last week, and between that and the fine weather, she's fully treating us like a b&b at the moment. So she's out all day somewhere (apart from a few snack visits) in the blazing heat, comes in and scoffs dinner, retreats to the sun lounger for a while or chases bugs then disappears again. Food consumption suggests she comes back in at least once in the night, and this morning I found her asleep on the sofa (then she promptly went out again!). Happy as larry from what I see of her at the moment (she's definitely a puss who likes her freedom).

She's jet black as well, which boggles me as I would expect her to be feeling rotten and just flop somewhere.

She has a cat fountain indoors and a bowl of water outside but she's refusing most of her wet food and only eating her biscuits (which she vastly prefers anyway). I've no idea how much she's actually drinking and she rarely uses the litter tray anymore so I can't check if she's peeing ok.

Does anyone else have a cat that seems part-desert animal?? Confused

One of ours spends a lot of the winter evenings with her head on the hearth, cooking herself. At the moment she goes out every day, finds the hottest, most sheltered bit of sunshine she can find and sprawls there, blinking blissfully to herself.

The other has become expert at making herself precisely the shape of very small patches of shade.

Heman that's it exactly
He huffs too. I know that it's not really a dissatisfied huff but he often does a big huff/sigh when he's thrown himself on the floor. It was his 13th birthday this week and he's definitely a grumpy teenager.

Mine are loving it and couldn't care less about the heat. As they have white ears they are being suncreamed often but the littlest one still has managed to get sunburned ears!

Good job PicklePig is a handsome boy. All that huffing, sighing and vague disappointment with things Grin.
