Question re cat food in this heat

My cats are v fussy about their wet food (only Gourmet Perle will do Hmm)

I don't want to leave the box of pouches in the cupboards in my sauna of a flat and feed warmed up goop to the poor bastards - am I sensible to keep them in the fridge? I keep thinking about how vile chilled cat food must taste Confused

By 'them' I mean the pouches, not the cats. If anyone's going in the fridge it'll be me!

I hadn't thought of that so I'll be reading replies with interest. Harry has his own food cupboard and his pouches are still in there and it doesn't seem to be putting him off.

I've never refrigerated them in previous heatwaves but the pouches felt positively warm this morning and I felt a bit guilty!

Cats prefer warm food I think. As it's like fresh kill. I wouldn't worry about it.

I've actually been freezing tuna and some of the gourmet gold tins. Mine seems to be enjoying them, but he'll also happily sit on a wet towel...

I'm just fed up with the constant whiff of bleugh cat food warmed and a bit rotten ten mins after it's served EnvyShock

I'm
So glad mine only have wet as a treat!

I think my cat likes hers warm, but to stop there being reeking leftovers I give her half portions and top up if she eats it all.

Jamon · 21/06/2017 00:07

Max prefers his warm

I add water when it's hot to make sure he's drinking plenty

Interesting point about fresh kill.

I've just given them 2 thoroughly refrigerated pouches and they're wolfing them down. Also popped an ice cube in their water. Seem happy enough! I've got wood floors with underfloor heating/cooling so despite them being long haired beasts they're otherwise fairly comfortable as the floors are cool.

Cheers all

lemon they do absolutely stink. The heat seems to marinade whatever's in the bin and cat pouches are the worst culprit of all!

I have to take the ribbish out every night its worse than their litter trays! Ive also been adding wather to their food and they still eat it.
