over grooming?

our 10 year old cat keeps being sick. Approx 3/week for a year. We took her to the vets and there is nothing obviously wrong. She is a very anxious cat following a bad accident she had a few years ago. At one stage she had a bald patch on her tummy where she was over grooming. This has improved however a lot of her sick contains fur balls.

We've tried changing to senior cat food but this hasn't helped. We're not sure whether to pay for more investigations at the vets (no insurance), try a different cat food or what...

Is there a way to stop her over grooming? Could this make her sick? Any other advice much appreciated :)

Try some zyklene. My mum and dad's beast was doing this and it's stopped.

Both of mine have overgroomed in the last year... I have put it down to builders and foxes in neighbouring gardens. One of them has always been highly strung but the other was chilled out until recently and it pains me to see her poor bald tummy and tail. Absolutely no sign of fleas or any other itch.
Thankfully we don't seem to suffer with hairballs too because they just shed all over my bed but I know you can buy special hairball food (Hills -m.petplanet.co.uk/p24552/hills_hairball_control_mature_adultsenior_7_15kg.aspx?ptm_source=google&ptm_medium=shopping&ptm_campaign=negative_risk_7681&gclid=CNH7_oazyNQCFci77QodfecLtg ) which might be worth a try?

Sorry - clicky link (hopefully!) www.petplanet.co.uk/p24552/hills_hairball_control_mature_adultsenior_7_15kg.aspx

I give up! Google "Hills hairball control senior"

How long have you got? Grin mine overgrooms and I'm the queen of every treatment tried!
You've got behavioural so - feliway, distraction, toys and play
Allergy - food issues, antihistamines, look at environment
Skin condition - vet can do scrapes
Internal issues - UTI etc

A steroid jab might be good short term, it stopped mine being sick and also overgrooming but he has them every 6 weeks now. They get in a lick - sore - lick cycle so it helps to break it. And yes mine is sick from overgrooming

One of mine overgrooms.

It's a symptoms of his allergies. Had an allergy blood test and it was well worth it. Some of his allergies can be avoided now we know about them (chicken), others are environmental based and flare up at this time of year which is tricky.

My cat does this, we think he's probably stressed out by my neighbour's cat.
He's had steroid injections, and has now been put on Royal Canin Calm food, which seems to be making a difference. His fur is finally starting to grow back

Mine does this but he doesn't swallow the fur, he pulls out tufts which he leaves all over the floor.
He also throws up immediately if he eats a whole meal. We feed him about six tiny meals daily.
