We are going to have a loft extension and know it will be a nightmare. Our cat will hate the process ie noise disruption. She goes out the back but not allowed out the Front however she won't be able to go out the back as builders Will have side gate open. My only option will be keeping her in ie the Front room when they are here. Anyone here have an indoor cat who has had a loft extension? Excited but dreading it too

Her safety is the most important thing. Builders will not have the time nor the inclination to mind a cat, so she's better off being confined. It is pain, but she'll be fine. Also, cats are very curious creatures and when she sees the loft opening up, she'll be straight up there when the builders have gone for the day. My cats love it when the ladder comes out for the loft. Pit all of her bits in the one room and she'll settle. Good luck.

We had to confine our cat daily for 6 weeks of building work. She was cross but fine.

thanks chaps. i know i will have to shut her in one room. hopefully it will be in the winter when she is less inclined to chase flies in the garden. i feel so guilty if i have to shut her in even if it is for 5 minutes while i unload the car as i have the front door open, ridiculous really but i love her :0) she is white so so will get really dirty as i have been warned the place will constantly be FILTHY for weeks

Dcat is not supposed to go out the front but goes out the back and makes his way round to the front. Occasionally makes a mad dash out through the front door when he sees the opportunity. Either way can usually be tempted in with dreamies or a bit of ham.
We had building work last year but he took it very much in his stride and the builders called me if he appeared round the front.
If she isn't allowed round the front because it's a very busy road or something then yes, I think you're going to have to shut her in while the builders are there.
