Advice on male kitten behaviour please!

I have 2 15 week old kittens. They are litter mates, one a female who is naturally pretty docile and easy- going and her brother who was always more nervous and energetic but could also be loving and cuddly if the mood took him.
I have had them since they were about 9 weeks.
Recently the boy has become more agitated . His play with his sister is becoming increasingly more 'aggressive' and dominant. He has started to make her miaow when they tussle and I can see that he is biting too hard and he really pins her down and is being very dominant although this isn't too hard as his sister is pretty laid back
He spends time sitting by the front door looking hopeful, but can't go out yet
They are getting their second jabs this week and I will discuss when they can be spayed/ neutered. I feel he really needs to go out sooner rather than later and run off some energy. That might stop him wrecking the house!
He doesn't spray though.
He doesn't want to be stroked of picked up any more either.
I was wondering whether this change in behaviour was to do with his hormones, although he seems too young for this. I don't know.
I would really appreciate and advice you might have about the behaviour of male kittens.
Nothing else in the house has changed. He doesn't seem stressed, just a bit feral!

All Gough the advice is not to, I let my boy out at about four months, two months before he was spayed. He didn't really go out of the garden at first, and I kept a very close eye on him.
He got himself into some terrible scrapes at about four months -dangling by his back leg after being caught in the blinds and another time jumping on to the bannister and falling from the top to the bottom of the stairs - but he remained very affectionate.
Not had two cats so not sure how that affects them or what to do when play fighting gets too rough.
Pictures please?!

Although not all Gough!

I think there is someone on here who is good on cat behaviour I think @Cozie, hopefully they can help.

I think it normal behaviour to push the boundaries, it's what they would do in a litter and either their stronger litter mates or their Mum would bat them down. We now have one male cat and he definitely started to get more aggresive in his play around this time. In the end we had to 'bat him down' so to speak. Push him away or 'shhhhht' (thats supposed to be a sound lol) to him. With you the poor girl is on the end of it and if she is more docile he will lord it over her

In the end he was neutured at 5 months after he fell out of a tree. I woudl ask your vet to see if he can be done asap

Oldraver · 14/06/2017 08:53

Oh I should add...Ernie was desperate to go out and I wasn't convinced he would do a runner so got a harness and extendable lead, Let him have a wander and sniff around the garden

9GreenBottles · 14/06/2017 08:59

It's probably due to his hormones, and you shouldn't be surprised if he starts to mount the girl either (mine did - with very little chance of success). I wouldn't let a kitten that young out, I would play with him more and ask about neutering.

bigbuttons · 14/06/2017 12:31

Thanks so much! An extendable lead is a great idea. He sits looking out if the windows giving killer looks to the birds. I thought it might be hormones but websites say that doesn't start until they are older. He takes great interest in his sister's back side, not mounting but tries to lick and shove his nose up there. She doesn't like it. We have started to 'tell him off' now.

They're between 2-4 human years now, so he's probably very curious & sounds like he has a big personality. I think he can be neutered at this age. See what your vet says.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/06/2017 13:43

My cat was practising mating his sister at 15 weeks.

I tell myself it was just practice anyway.

9GreenBottles · 14/06/2017 16:58

Mine was definitely just practice at that point - he was smaller than my other kitten (not littermates) and when he tried, he was at least 2 inches away from where he needed to be - and she wasn't co-operating Grin

What I did have was a large dog crate they went out in when they were about 5 months old and then two harnesses and leads. Eventually I tied the leads together which let them both go out to explore and I was always in the garden or kitchen to keep an eye on them needing to be untangled. They weren't allowed out on their own till they were nearly one (but I am a bit overprotective!)

dementedpixie · 14/06/2017 17:07

They can be neutered from 4 months old. I had to go to a different vet to get mine done at just over 4 months as my vet wouldn't do it until 6 months. I got them microchipped at the same time

bigbuttons · 14/06/2017 22:07

Thanks, yes the vets will micro chip them when they neuter them. I am looking forward to a time when male kitten is friendlier , well at least I'm hoping getting him fixed will do that !
