How to keep the bastard cats off the kitchen worktop

I have 2 -bastard- cats. They know they are not allowed on the kitchen work tops. I can never actually catch them up there because they jump down when they hear me coming. But I constantly hear them jumping down and they leave fur and paw prints everywhere. Ugh. It makes me so angry - it seriously grosses me out plus I have a small baby so hygiene is even more important than normal. I am getting through industrial amounts of spray cleaner.

Any suggestions please?! They're driving me bonkers... I love them but I hate this habit.

We lock our cat out the kitchen and rooms in the night. Generally he doesn't climb on the kitchen work tops unless someone has left an open tin of tuna.

I'd say get rid of the cat if it's bothering you that much. I would if I could but he's not my cat. His fur gets EVERYWHERE especially on the stairs. I can't allow my little toddler to crawl up the stairs because there's just too much fur!

My dp bought double-sided sticky tape and stuck it randomly all over our counter tops. DCat just stepped over it! I, on the other hand, kept forgetting it was there and ended up with all sorts of kitchen items stuck fast to the units! It needed dp's man muscles to unstick them. Was a right bugger to clean off too. Not recommended.

here even the 8/9 week old foster kittens learn very quickly how to get up on the worktops, i just use lots of anti bac spray thats about all you can do or while the baby is so young keep them out of the kitchen

How about those air fresheners that automatically spray intermittently?

My first cat - I was there all the time when he was a kitten and he learned not to do it. The others learned not to get caught - (a bit like my exh and my kids).

Provide your cats with an alternative high up vantage point that they are allowed to use. Every time they get on the worktop, hiss and growl at them and lift them straight on to their allowed place.
If you find them up on their allowed place, purr at them and offer a treat.
Place treats on their high place sometimes for them to find.
It took me a couple of weeks, but my own DCat now leaves the worktops alone and supervises me cooking from her table.

Every chance Havelock gets he’s up on the counter! I’ve sprayed him with water, hissed at him, clapped my hands, shouted no loudly. He just sits there with a look of utter disdain on his face. The problem is that our living room/kitchen is open plan, so short of locking him out I don’t know what else to do.
He knows he’s not allowed on them and he waits until I get up and pick up the water spray, then he jumps down and does the drop and roll whilst doing his impersonation of a sea otter.
I spend a lot of time wiping down my worktops.

I balance take away type trays with a bit of water in all along the worktop /cooker/ sink so he knocks it of and gets wet .
