Do your cats prefer wet or dry food ? Which is their main food?

Following on from my very helpful thread on cat litter I'd like to ask about food!
My 13 week old kittens have the Royal Canin kitten dry food. I bought a huge bag as this is what the breeder had Weened them on and she said it should be their main source of nutrition. She told me wet food was an add on.
However, the kittens eat the dry food reluctantly but are always wanting the wet pouches. I give them Sheeba, a pouch each a day. They stand by the cupboard where it is kept looking hopeful. I think they would eat nothing else given half a chance and only eat the dried stuff if nothing else is available. I leave a bowl of dried out all the time for them.
Please can you tell me what you think?
I'm going through pouches faster than I'd like and want to make sure they are getting a good nutritional balance.
Thanks.

They are both currently trying to get into the cupboard where the pouches are kept! They only had on 2 hours ago!

I feed royal canin sensible 33 and one cat has applaws chicken or fish pouches, which seem to be really good. However my young cat will only eat gourmet perle, which is think is pretty crap food, so i limit him on that.

I mix it up between wet & dry for mine too. With your wet food make sure it's kitten food as they'll need the greater calorie content. I'd also inclined to stick with royal canin or science Hills wet food rather than sheeba (I believe that these brands are better for cats than the general supermarket ones - an prepared to be corrected)

Just dry food, which is what the vet told me tto give them.

I would limit pouches, mine youngest is the same, but he has two a day and biscuits out all the time. He is a big cat though.

Harry prefers dry but can only have wet now. Luckily we've found very expensive food he likes but I do feel a bit sorry for him.

Thanks.
I don't think they are that enamoured with the Royal Canin tbh. But will have to finish the very expensive enormous bag before I try something else.
The male will eat anything going but the girl is really fussy. I have tried them on other supermarket wet food and they have turned their noses up.

Sheba is not a kitten food. I would get good quality kitten food as it tends to be higher in protein and fats and should help keep them fuller for longer. I give AVA kitten dry food and pouches a few times a day but mine are now 7 months old almost. At that age they got kitten wet food around 4 times a day and dry left out all the time

I don't feed too much dry as we had an issue with a boy cat being unwell with a UTI. It was horrid. Cats tend to not drink much so I prefer wet food but mine like the dry we have so I let them have some. (Hoping it helps keep the teeth a bit
Cleaner too!)

Try pets at home for other kitten foods. Mine like James wellbeloved lamb flavour and liked the wainwrights tuna. I look for cereal free and hopefully sugar free foods. One pouch isn't that much tbh and kittens need proportionately more food than adult cats due to how fast they grow

Mine prefer dry. I had to put them on wet recently due to one of them having problems with her jaw. It was a nightmare. They were oh for about 3 days but then would only eat tiny bits of it. Not enough to keep them going. And it stinks and drys out. We were all much happier when the vet said she could have dry again.

Canagan dry food and a daily pouch to share.

Both big water drinkers, Cookie is grain intolerant and gets diarrhoea if I give her anything else.

Biscuit has a stomach of steel but easiest to feed same
