Insurance.

So Dh has finally cracked and said I we can get a kitten.
From the local rescue, and our house backs out onto a wooded area.
Fwiw I wfh and we have outbuildings original 1950's shed toilet so the cat would have somewhere to shelter from the dodgy weather if ever I wasnt in to let it back in again.

However he has said that insurance is a must. Ideally he wants one that will keep going no matter how old the cat is and not stop as soon as it hits an arbitary age. Lifetime insurance iirc.

So what would be the best insurance to get? Any suggestions muchly appreciated.

Glad he's finally seen sense!

I really rate Petplan. They have paid out for my cat's issues without any problems even though the vet said they probably wouldn't. They're not the cheapest but worth it in my opinion.

Another Petplan vote here. Not the cheapest but compared to being stuck with huge vet bill much better. Definitely go for lifetime cover.
Is also worth having an account to pay small amount in to cover excesses, things the insurance won't cover e.g.. teeth clean etc

Tesco. Brilliant. Cheapest around for the top
Level of cover. Both my supposedly healthy girls have run up huge bills within a month of each other. Felt with quickly and efficiently by Tesco.

Petplan. There are usually some good introductory offers but it is one of the more expensive. It is also one that is really good at playing out. Whatever you go for check it has illness, accident and dental cover - a lot will miss one. Check if you can get payment on repeated injuries/illnesses. And lifetime cover of course.

There will be an excess of course so check that too (but don't make it deciding factor) and you will usually need to pay out then claim back. If you know which vet you will use call them and ask if they accept direct payment for big bills - and if so which companies they will do it for. Mine will only do it for a few companies as others are bad at paying out.

If you decide to go for petplan and can't find a better offer then pm me and I'll set up a referral code. Which gets you two months free and me an M&S voucher. There are usually better offers about than that though.
