Cats with white ears - sunscreen

I was told by a vet years ago to use factor 50 baby sunscreen (so no damage if they lick it off) all over the cats white ears during the summer/any sunny days. I'm the only person I know who does this and feel like a bit of a nutter when I tell people I put sunscreen on the cats ears. Please tell me I'm not the only one?

We always at least try to put sunscreen on our white boy. He hates it and sulks massively if we manage to corner him!

I was doing this 25 years ago. Baby ss wasn't a thing back then so I used bright green zinc oxide.

I don't think he appreciated it one bit either.

MrsNathanDrake he's gorgeous. Here's my white girl. I used to buy cat sunscreen for her from the vet, when I lived in a very sunny climate.

I grew up in very sunny place & we never did this for our white cats. No cancers, either.

I had to do this with old cat. He had the biggest pinkiest ears ever haha I used filtabac sun cream. It's fab stuff and lasts 24hrs. You can buy it off hyperdrug I think
