Other than ping pong balls / cat nip mice and the fishing rod thing what is a brilliant, absorbing toy for a cat?

At the moment, his own tail.

Fattycat adored the plastic covers that went over our thermometers at work. I used to come home with a pocket full of them. She even worked out how to get them out the bin. I was gobsmacked.

Mine's been playing air hockey with a tin of Vaseline tonight. It skids across the carpet beautifully.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 19/05/2017 09:17

Harry loves Molly's Mice and the catnip cushions that his cat sitter makes.

LapdanceShoeshine · 19/05/2017 12:34

One of mine really likes hair bobbles - her favourite now is one which has broken & turned into a small elastic worm.

Another loves the long bits of stalk that vine cherry tomatoes come off (pref with the little spider bits left on)

& the third the gold wire enclosures that come on the tops of some Spanish wine bottles. She can hear one being removed from 2 rooms away & comes to wait until I scrunch it up a bit & throw it for her.

They do also like conventional things like catnip rat/bird toys (B&M are good for those - they're fluffy with dangly bits) & any random dangly things

Our cat also loves the wire from spanish red wine bottles she loves throwing them up in the air and chasing after them. All other toys are ignored though she does like chewing up paper (particularly spelling tests to DD's joy).

I forgot the pets at home willows scratch box! It has a ball in it but I've threaded a catnip mouse with attached ribbon tail so the ribbon is out the holes too
Ollie likes to scratch on it but he sleeps on it too Hmm

YesItsMeIDontCare · 19/05/2017 13:17

I was going to say the Willows Scratch Box! Leroy loves it. He also loves the little furry P@H Catnip mice and his Bolt Laser.

This morning my little shits cats will tell you that the best EVER cat toy is a ball of very expensive merino yarn, which was attatched to an order that I now have to start again from scratch! 😂

Laser mouse
The recycling bag (with recycling inside it)
Cat tunnel

justpeachy74 · 19/05/2017 16:09

She also spent time 'stalking' the kitchen sink plug and chain which had fallen on the floor yesterday.

TroysMammy · 20/05/2017 17:19

Troy used to like playing with the plastic thing that hold cans of beer together. He used to come home with his latest find in his mouth, throw it and slide it across the floor. I would snip them first though.

Milliemoo37 · 20/05/2017 17:29

Mine loves hair bobbles. They're all over the place, I moved the settee back to vacuum underneath and found 20+. Wondered who had been nicking them all. Hmm

We've just had a birthday so I scrunched the wrapping paper up into balls and she goes mad for them, she's an absolute nutcase! Plus I've finished painting a spare bedroom and I balled up the masking tape I had been using to protect skirting boards/light switches. She doesn't play with the toys we've bought her...

RueDeDay · 21/05/2017 07:39

Mine like creating a whole house post modern art installation by clawing and biting small pieces off of a cardboard box, and carefully carrying them to deposit in various places around the house.

tabbymog · 22/05/2017 19:55

Laser mouse here too - this one.
