Is it me or is this pricey?

Had an upsetting annual check for my puss today. Told he has a heart murmur and needs to see a cardiologist. He's only two! Trying not to worry.

Less serious is he also needs two teeth shaved as they're slightly digging into his gums. Unlike the heart murmur this is not covered by his pet insurance and the estimate is £1k. I can't have him in pain but wowzas! Seems a lot?

Still reading thank you for your advice. Speaking of cadging food we were also told he's a tiny bit overweight yesterday at 5.9kg. Not a good vet's visit!

Heh... BSH's are just big boned. Seriously. Never met a skinny one.

problembottom · 26/04/2017 14:01

We're all big boned and a cake away from being fat in this household so maybe he's just fitting in haha. He is a big stocky lad but he has no problem leaping in the air after his feather, zipping around the house and getting on top of the fridge and wardrobes and anywhere else he shouldn't be.

Sounds like a typical BSH to me. He's absolutely gorgeous by the way. is he affectionate? The BShs I know are not lap cats and don't much like being cuddled.

He doesn't do laps but likes being picked up and cuddled. He is very affectionate, we get at least three social rolls at our feet when we come in the door and he follows me in particular round the house like a little shadow, sits next to me on the sofa, on my desk in the office, on my bedside table etc. Sleeps on our feet at night. He has to be at the centre of everything and is all over any visitors... loves a fuss. He's spoiled rotten, we got him as a companion for me as DP is away a lot and he performs his role perfectly. He's VERY chatty which I don't think is typical of a BSH.

:). He sounds wonderful. I hope he will be given a clean bill of health (and one that isn't stupidly expensive).

Thank you Smile

I had my boy's heart murmur checked out following his regular check... I would recommend it as they will then understand what's causing it and know if it changes from check to check.

However, sounds like it's the dental that's making you choke slightly (and I'm not surprised).. that does seem high but teeth can cause so much pain to a cat, I think if you can, you'll have to suck it up and go for it. Perhaps get them to do a full check whilst he's under to give you an idea as to whether this could be an ongoing problem or just a one off.

He is utterly stunning too and sounds like a gorgeous character Smile
