My new cat!

I am now a proud first time owner of a cat! I got him 2 1/2 weeks ago from the blue cross and he is wonderful- very affectionate but not the lap cat he made himself out to be in the first couple of days!!! He is an 18 month old neutered tom. I've been told he's previously lived with a family as a house cat and never been outside but from my experience playing with him ( and watching him stare at the birds on the other side of the patio doors ) he has a very strong hunt instinct 😬
I always thought I was more of a dog person but now I don't know how I lived without a cat for so long!

Your boys are fab, too April.

Fellow mini panther owner here, your boy is so handsome! My boy is two and also does the random biting/pouncing on our bare legs, which has only drawn a bit of blood a couple of times, though it really hurts! He is a total lap cat and very affectionate but also has a strong hunting instinct. It is play aggression, as cat play is a form of hunting. You could try playing with him using toys that he can ‘hunt’ or chase, which might help him get some of it out of his system.

Minta85 thank you for your lovely reply- house panthers are great aren’t they! Luckily he’s settled down a lot from when I first adopted him .... saying that he’s still a bit partial to chasing my legs up the stairs and swiping them if I don’t turn around quickly enough .... if he sees that I’ve seen what he’s up to he looks the other way and starts cleaning himself as if nothing was ever happening .... even if this means his pearched in a very questionable and uncomfortable position on the stairs😺

Here is my house panther in his bed (that is actually designed for a large dog). He will be one year old tomorrow.
