Just that really. I know different people think differently and it's all age dependent as well.

630-2100 or 6pm-930am 3-4 times a week. She has the run of the flat and wet food on the timer and dry always available. Theres a litter tray in my bedroom in case she cant be bothered to go to the main one. I used to feel terrible but im home three or four days every week so its not bad and tbh its 10am now and shes just climbed into her bed and she will not wake up until 3pm im making the most of it and going out for lunch ill be back before she wakes!

Soubriquet · 06/04/2017 10:02

All day here

But she has a window open so she can go outside if she pleases and can come in for food and water.

If we were going to be over night, I would get someone in to give her her evening meal but we don't stay away at night anyway.

Have a holiday booked in June but she will go to the cattery for that (5days)

Toddlerteaplease · 06/04/2017 10:08

One of the reasons I held off getting a car was because I work 13 hour shifts a d didn't want to leave them. But these two are sonlsid back they don't care!

EachandEveryone · 06/04/2017 10:26

If you are like me isnt that three shifts a week? How many people working full time can gave four days at home a week? Thats how i look at it.

MaidenMotherCrone · 06/04/2017 10:43

Mine are never left, We all work different hours so they are never alone.

Toddlerteaplease · 06/04/2017 11:29

Each. Yes it is. But I hate staying at home. So they still get left for 6-7 hours a day. But they don't seem to care. And compared to their first five years in a chicken coupe cattery. It must me paradise for them.

Unpropergrammer · 06/04/2017 13:34

Dp has booked a spa break so we would be away for 36 hours at most. Don't know whether to leave her or book her in a cattery - just wanted to gage if other people thought that was cruel if she has access to clean little, food and water.

Booboo27 · 06/04/2017 13:35

I don't think it's cruel as it's less than 48 hours. Just make sure she has extra food and water left for her

problembottom · 06/04/2017 13:49

Up to ten hours, not overnight on his own. I left him until 2am the other week, I had to get a late train back from London and DP was abroad. I was worried but when I got home he'd already put himself to bed and didn't even stir! Chilled out cat.

We used to leave my cats at home for 2 week holiday every year - they had access to the utility room and cat flap obviously. Neighbor came round to feed every day. We tried to put them in a cattery but they hated it - used to ranging around their territory. Didn't ever seem to be particularly bothered about us coming home.

No the child is at uni, grandma comes and cat sits....

joangray38 · 06/04/2017 16:05

Never left on his own. He suffers from separation anxiety/ panic attacks and gets stressed without someone with him

steppemum · 06/04/2017 16:13

would leave him for a weekend if I could feed him on Friday night, and then leave a mix of wet and dried. I used to have an automatic feeder with an ice block to keep food fresh. Don't usually leave him for more than 24 hours though as we have other animals.

But we leave him every year when we go away for 2 weeks. My friend comes in once a day to feed all the animals (chickens, rabbit, fish, cat) and sometimes he will appear and want a fuss, sometimes he won't. He is quite happy, has a cat flap with a chip reader so only he can come in and the whole neighbourhood to play in.

This is why we have a cat and not a dog.
