Toilet paper games

The "new" thing for this week is for MoominKitten (6months) to pull the entire toilet roll down and shred it to pieces on the floor.

I can see obviously why this is a great game , but it's costing me a fortune in toilet rolls! Any ideas?

The holder is relatively high up and drilled into the tiles so can't just "abandon" it or it would look empty and weird- need to find a way to stop her rather than move the roll if you see what I mean

Close the bathroom door?

Haha should have explained, one of the bathrooms is "hers" as she is an indoor kitten. So that's where her tray / food / where she sleeps is when she needs to be put somewhere secure when DH and I leave the house / at night time etc

But it can still be used as a downstairs cloakroom for guests so I would still like to be able to keep "naice" toilet roll in there

I was hoping there would be a magical way of folding the paper or something that is proven abhorrent to cats and I just didn't know about it.....

Mine is up on top of a cupboard! Confusing when guests come round... unfortunately he's now worked out how to jump onto to the cupboard but he doesn't shred the paper so much any more

Think of 'damage limitation' strategies and not ways to stop it. Which are more or less doomed.

Buy a small roll of something like micro pore tape or masking tape and use a small piece to stick the end of the toilet roll down on the roll. It should come off easily enough

You lock a 6 month old cat in the downstairs loo at night and when you're out? Is she not terribly bored?

No puffin it's a large room, she has many many toys and she is still too wild and bouncy to be left unsupervised in the whole of the open plan downstairs overnight.

The times that DH and I are both out are rare, and overnight is usually about midnight - 6am when DH leaves for work and lets her out when I come downstairs and can supervise her

I'd just take the loo roll out. It could be a family rule. Cat in, loo roll out.

This is ours after he broke into the cupboard and knocked a few rolls down to play with.

Oneago used, occasionally, to bite rolls. He wouldn't shred them but a quartet of fangs bearing down on toilet paper sort of 'impacts' the stuff at point of contact. Makes it impossible to use because the sheets become connected.
