Does anyone's cat wear a jacket?

Our house isn't as warm as it used to be (frankly now we aren't running a business we can't afford to)

& the cat is visibly cold - curling up into tiny corners trying to get into the airing cupboard (although we might put ia box in their for him)

So we wondered about getting him a jacket (a cheap one in case he hates it)

Any ideas if this is sensible or worse than daft? And where I could get one from (& how are they sized?)

Little M was bald as a kitten, and now has curly hair on his head, neck and back with a bald undercarriage . He's the happiest little cat I know. He does all the same things my black and white moggy does.

Anyway, in the spirit of the thread, here's a photograph of him in his walking jacket.

Dolores that outfit is something else!!

DoloresVanCartier · 20/02/2017 09:42

Vino she's got a wedding dress and a couple of Christmas jumpers Blush I'm nearly 42 so should know better and she hates me!! Although I think her lions mane hat is particularly impressive!!

this is my sole reason for wanting a Sphynx cat...so I can make teeny tiny cat clothes.

We got a fleece 'self heating' pet blanket from B&M £4. DCat loves it, we put it in a box for her.

Tubbyinthehottub · 20/02/2017 09:49

The cat won't like a jacket. Mine has a self heating thermal bed by Scruffs which he loves.

Loving Dolorescat's mane! Like a wig for cats. Grin

Here's a photo of Little M as a kitten being a bumble-bee. He also had a little knitted jumper for chilly late summer evenings outside. It's so tiny, I can't believe he fitted into it.

Also MCat modelling his Rainbow Warrior hat.

Oh bravo katy! Grin. My cats are no fun at all. No dressing up of any description is allowed. Not even a mane Sad. Honestly, I need to have a stern word with the pair of them.

Little M looks like a buzzy bumblebee. We dressed my dog in a very similar outfit - she just looked very depressed Grin.

Honestly OP unless he is skinny and/or physically shivering, you're reading the signs wrong.

Their paws generally are cold - they're extremities and they sweat heat out through their Pawpads.

Also, cats don't snuggle under things because they're cold, they do it because they feel safer when hidden away. Cats in warm houses will still hide away in small spaces!

Really truly if he was that cold you'd be freezing yourself and notice signs of illness.

DENMAN03 · 20/02/2017 18:35

Bertandrussell, they are two extremely happy and contented cats. They don't go outside but then neither do many cats who live in flats or on dangerous roads. They are extremely intelligent and more like dogs as they play fetch and come to call.

BertrandRussell · 20/02/2017 18:53

Breeding a cat that can't go outside is shameful.

DoloresVanCartier · 20/02/2017 19:32

Oh rubbish! M cat is a fabulous bumblebee!! wanders off to EBay for more cat couture*

DumbledoresApprentice · 20/02/2017 19:35

Little M is totally adorable. I luffs him.

EpoxyResin · 20/02/2017 19:45

Sometimes there truly is a need for cat clothing. I have a 21 year old long haired cat who gave up on grooming a long time ago. This means her hair becomes matted so we have have her clipped. Given her age and failing kidneys she can't retain body fat and particularly without her fur she gets extremely cold. She has several jumpers from Pets at Home: just normal knitted jumpers for small/very small dogs. She won't tolerate anything with a high neck or fastenings of any kind (they end up off!) but plain pull-on jumpers are fine. We started dressing her like this on vet's advice and she's much happier now.

RubbishMantra · 20/02/2017 20:35

Dolores, you must check out Etsy. Everything a discerning cat could wish for. MCat buys his beautiful hats from there. Grin

DoloresVanCartier · 20/02/2017 20:45

Thank you rubbish, Dolorescat and I are going to have a girly online shopping spree.... ok she won't but I will!

Vinorosso74 · 20/02/2017 22:13

Dolores your cat must be very tolerant of your purchases. Vinocat is pretty calm and tolerant but she'd have clothes off in no time and we'd get the stare.

Trustyourself2 · 26/02/2017 20:45

Would he be interested in a cuddle bag?

I bought one to try out on mine, but none of them are interested. The customer reviews are positive, though.

Don't cats just need a nice cosy box/bed? Or a hot water bottle or a heat pad if really cold?
