Leaf is 19. I've posted previously about wondering if it's 'time' but I honestly don't think we're quite there yet.
I'm looking for ways than I can make her more comfortable though. I've just ordered her a new bed with a heat pad, I trim her claws for her and groom her as she's not up to doing either of those things. She has loxicom as and when needs be. She eats and drinks well, uses litter tray fine but can be very very vocal for no apparent reason prior to using the litter tray.
So, those of you with experience of OAPs, any advice or suggestions for me?

I bought a piece of memory foam for my (late) old man - kept him warm and comfortable, he loved it

Mine was a whelping pad. It's like a mini electric blanket. You can get microwave versions but I liked that I could just switch it on for a bit once she was settled on it. She loved it.

Seniorboy has an actual electric blanket. (He's there now. Smile) He can't curl well these days and likes to lie long.

madcat under the heated mat is a layer of memory foam... I chopped up a mattress for the cats benefit!
wtffgs heated pad is from Amazon, its filled with similar to those foil blankets you see people wrapped in after an accident. Reflects the cats heat back onto them I believe?
She's still loving the mat today, food, followed by loxicom followed by back in her box Smile so lovely to see her more comfy

I'm pleased that she's comfy. I reckon it makes a big difference - especially to the old ones. Smile

She is a dear old thing. With those eyes & ears she looks like a Siamesey version of Tom Cox's Bear Smile

cozietoesie · 12/02/2017 20:15

If she's all black, she might well be half Siamese. Smile

She certainly talks like one Hmm. I don't know. She's just my lovely Leaf who deserves nothing but the best for what time she's got left.
I genuinely marvel at how incredibly affectionate and loving she is after all she's been through. She has every reason to be afraid and not to trust, but she doesn't.

She knows she has landed on her feet. You are an angel for taking in a senior cat. Thank you.

scaryteacher · 16/02/2017 23:22

Did you put something on top of the heated pad OP?

Littlemissindependent · 17/02/2017 07:18

No, it's already in a kind of fleece blanket which unzips so can be washed
