/feline soulmate.

Bibi throws affection at anyone (I guess as a holdover from being a stray) but Zara is a one-person cat, and I am hers.

Has anyone learned their cat's miaow, in order to answer them in their own language?

MCat ranges from kitten squeaks to bassist yowly wails.

Little M does a variation of, "errr, ung-YAH" and "ooooh".

I believe myself to be fluent in both the boys' languages... Grin

I love this thread! One if my boys carries a stuffed toy around and miaows for me ( but always thinks better of handing over his toy and drops it before he gets to me...) and I miaow back - I figure he can follow my voice up the stairs etc if he doesn't know where I am? Blush
And I have a little Xmas song I made up for one of them that I sing every time we go to in the car because they howl the whole journey. I don't think it actually makes any difference, maybe I just drown out the howling Grin

I get "ackackackackack" , which I repeat back. It seems to mean " here I am,look at, me, guess what I did? Let me tell you, it was that big..." . It generally indicates a fragmented corpse on the landing and I always get a prancing, pouncing, toy tossing re-enactment of the great event...

My very old, 19 year old boy, is as deaf as a post now, so doesn't have an idea of how loud his voice is when he's hollering at/for me. When he's off somewhere in the house yowling, I have to track him down, in order to reassure him. The upside of his deafness, is that he now sleeps the sleep of the just, and it's lovely to see him so undisturbed.

My 6 year old girl is Spanish, and we frequently converse in her language. She is the scarediest cat ever, and I wish I knew why. She makes the most adorable little warble sound and her purr is so low, it's just about audible.

My other girl is nearly 3 and is on a mission to take over the household. So much so, that she has to be kept separate from my other 2, which is a shame. She constantly demands treats and has a screamy kind of meow that breaks me down every time.

A cat will recognise your voice before recognising your body, so I always speak out to my scaredy cat when I'm approaching her from a place from where she can't see me coming.

Such fun!

I do nursery rhythms with my boy - "hickory, dickory dock, the mouse ran up the clock..." and the hokey cokie "you put your left paw in, your left paw out..."
Crazy cat lady...

I dance with mine and when I talk to them I speak for them as well as myself. We argue sometimes.
