Does this need a vet? (Picture)

I'm not sure how or where she did it.

It's causing her to limp and she's licking it a lot.

She's got her normal appetite and isn't out of sorts.

DH thinks we should call an ambulance and I said to leave it a couple of days and monitor.

Erm not sure my post wasn't 'level-headed' seeing I said with the second vet and to suggest the cat would be in pain from a cut or burst abscess. Plenty of other similar posts saying your cat needs to see a vet too.

Well hey ho, as it turns out the thing to do was half way between what you thought and what your husband thought should happen.

That's bad form Toddlerteaplease, hard to trust your vet after that.

My cat has been in for bites / cuts similar to the op's cat three times now (unfortunately!!) and only required stitches once. Other times was just antibiotics and antiinflammatories - much cheaper!!!

Crikey, if you're posting for opinions/advice, and believe only the posters who agreed with you were "level headed", I hope for your sake you don't ever start a thread in AIBU. Grin

It was directed at the hysterical posts along the lines of "she 100% needs stitches" to a photo!

She did need to see a vet sooner than I would've taken her and that did happen, thanks for all that advice. However, it wasn't an emergency that needed a 40-50 mile stressful car trip. It was totally reasonable to wait until 9am and take her 2 miles in the car with limited stress.

As I said, her behaviour was normal. If she'd been hiding, lethargic, off her food, etc I would've taken her as an emergency without hesitation.

I grew up with outdoor cats and am used to them limping home with torn ears. DH never had pets and is a natural worrier.

Toddlerteaplease that awful. Poor cat having GA and stitches when she doesn't needs it! And your poor bank balance. Totally unethical.

Sphinx, I'm a nurse and thought they'd just put one stitch in as that's all I thought it needed. I could have held her while they did it. But I was in such a state because it was my fault I wasn't thinking straight!

Her leg is healing really well. She got a lovely scab forming. She got a follow up appointment on Tuesday but it looks like she won't need stitches.
