Whinging cat

Dear lord Angry
I'm posting to vent! Ollie whined last night because he was shut out the bedroom (no other option) so all night I had crying. He ripped part of the carpet too. I got woken up after 2hrs sleep by him howling again. All day he has done NOTHING but whinge at me. I fell asleep on the sofa and he woke me up by crying at top volume and jumping on my head. Thought I would relax and watch some tv but all I have is whinge. Whinge. Whinge
ARGH

Grin don't worry he's scoffing his wet food happily!
No lights but streetlights as I back on to a road, and yes lots of neighbours. Police think they were maybe walking along and just trying doors

Have you tried talking it through?

I get whinged at, but it's usually because he has something perfectly reasonable to say and I'm ignoring him. Be a good listener, appear shocked/enthused/empathetic at the right moments.Grin

We are completely silent today Confused
I asked if he had a good day and he looked at me and stalked off in disgust

Obviously sulking.

I like your idea lovely, of talking it through. Sounds a lot like superstar psychotherapist Carl Rogers' active listening. Sadly we can't mirror our cats' body language, lacking tails, whiskers and swivelling ears. I can wiggle my ears, but haven't mastered the swivelling.

You don't need to bother, Mantra. They're past masters at interpreting oral communications - in my experience. Smile

He knows "sit" very well Grin
I taught it for sitting for treats but it's handy when he's wandering in front of the TV so I can't see and I want him to sit out the way!

Update - he's silent because he's lost his miaow from screeching at me continuously BlushBlush he can manage a croak but mainly I'm being glared at because it's all my fault Grin

My cat and I have long conversations and he loves it. He will come and meow at me (like full face eyes closed tongue out meow) and I say "Oh god, really??" "Meeeoow!" "That's terrible, are you ok?" "Moww." "Oh that's good."

Grin

I have a friend who says he speaks cat. I think that's rubbish because cats can understand English perfectly well. They just choose not to at times.

Weedsnseeds1 · 21/12/2016 11:32

What's the cat equivalent of honey and lemon? Cod liver oil maybe?

hollinhurst84 · 21/12/2016 11:51

Oh no he can stay mute for a while GrinGrin
