What are these lumps on dcat

He's lying on his side while I stroke him and as I'm doing so it feels like he has two soft moveable squishy lumps? He's a bit in the podgy/fluffy side so it's not on his skin but rather in his body iyswim. Kind of above his tummy and not far from his back. What are they? Are they meant to be there?? Is it just part of his body ?

Kidneys? Spleen?

Kenworthington · 15/12/2016 13:45

Oh hahaha is it? Good job I didn't take him to the vet!

It's the right area to be one of those organs, but I'm not a vet!

Weedsnseeds1 · 15/12/2016 14:12

Could also be fat stored in his primordial pouch ( the little saggy bit behind his tummy)

cozietoesie · 15/12/2016 14:31

Seniorboy had one of those and - following excision and biopsy - it turned out to be a fatty deposit and not an issue. When is he due to go to the vet for eg a checkup? They're best placed to give you a view, I think.

Oh - and don't keep prodding them! Smile

Kenworthington · 15/12/2016 14:33

He had a check up not long ago so he's prob fine then I guess. Maybe it's just an organ after all haha I feel a right twat now (but better to look a twat on a forum than in real life)

You shouldn't be able to feel organs just under the skin without pressing quite hard. They are more likely fatty lumps but any unusual lump is worth checking by a vet just in case. The difference between a sisnister and non-sinister lump is not diagnosable over the internet - frequently not diagnosable without a biopsy.

cozietoesie · 15/12/2016 14:46

What did the vet say about his weight at his last checkup?

Kenworthington · 15/12/2016 17:28

He's a bit in the large side. She refused to believe he was 6 months (well he's 7 months now)

Are they symmetrical if you stand him up and feel on both sides?

Do they feel deep (like organs), hard and immobile or loose, squishy and localised to the skin?

MissClarke86 · 15/12/2016 17:33

Sorry just read your op in more detail. The symmetrical question still stands though?

Kenworthington · 15/12/2016 19:47

Hmm they feel deep squishy and loose and two different sizes. They are next to each other. I am now trying to grab him to see if it's only on one side...

Vet him for check up. My best guess is primordial pouch, but it is just a guess.
