Just that really.
We have one elderly cat and live semi rural.
A very friendly kitten has been calling everynight for a few weeks - it doesn't have a collar on but has a shaved left side that has nearly grown back

It was here pretty much all day yesterday (haven't let it in the house though I can tell DH is desperate to!) we suspect it's a stray but the shaved side is giving me doubt - is it possible for a stray to be neutered

Very friendly, now accepts strokes and will purr gently, climbed on our laps and curled up when we were sat in the garden

Just wondered what to do and not to do - don't want to catnap someone else's cat but nor do I want it to suffer

Neighbours are none the wiser

Any advice welcomed

It's possible a rescue has done the trap and release program which is why it's spayed or it is owned

Take some photos and pop them on Facebook. Your local spotted page is perfect. Maybe call some local vets and describe the cat. See if they recognise her

Nothing comes up, well..you have a new cat

What a perfect Christmas Story! Little lad or lovely lady?

Massive congrats. Any name choices? Noel?

ChishandFips33 · 11/12/2016 17:13

Lovely lady, though me saying neutered instead of spayed confused things!

No name yet - trying hopelessly to remain detached

Tempted to pop her to the vets to get her checked out health wise and see if she's known/chipped but don't want to traumatise her and put her off coming round of she is a stray

I think I'd assume it was owned tbh. Try a paper collar.

Yes, put a paper collar with a message on it. Also if she is spayed she could well be chipped. You could always take her to get her scanned.

Never thought of the collar idea - thank you, will give that a try Smile

As long as she's safe and happy we'll be happy - in some ways I'm hoping she does have a home as I think my old cat would be offended if we introduced an energetic ball of fur!

We had to have our other cat PTS recently after them living together for over 15 yrs and I truly think she's happier now she's an 'only child' again

I'd bundle her in a box and get her scanned. The vet will do that for you.

Tnr schemes sometimes cut the tip of the ear off to indicate they've been done.
