Ragdoll or BSH?

In the new year (probably around easter time) I would like to get a cat. I love the look of ragdolls and have read that they are quite relaxed and placid. I also love British short hairs. I would rescue if possible but would like a kitten.

Can anyone advise on either of these breeds and suggest which one might be better?

I have a toddler and will keep them apart while the kitten is small and will never leave them unsupervised.

Yes. That's where mine came from. They do take other breeds as well.

I have a Persian Chinchilla. He's lovely! Likes a bit of lap-time and sleeps on my feet every night. He stays inside and likes to watch what we get up to.
Good luck finding your kitty Smile

I think all cats are bastards, it just manifests differently in each of them.

I've had 6 cats and only one was a housecat, all the others have liked to go out & come back happier for it.

One of Dhs colleagues had a bsh as a housecat from kitten hood but it didn't work out because he was spraying everywhere. I think he'd have been better off in a different home. I did say to Dh when I saw a photo of the litter "tell him back row far rights a little sod" but of course that one got chosen.

They're irresistible bastards though Grin

It's how they get away with it.

I would rescue, I couldn't bring myself to buy from a breeder when there are so many cats needing a home. I actually think it could be a good thing if some breeds did die out (not all obviously) - I feel the same about dogs as well.

I can't believe everyone saying BSH are aloof! Ozzy follows me round the house and likes to sleep on us. He can be a bit pounce if we aren't playing but he's a little softy.

So I came across an 11 week old black rescue mog. He'll be joining us after Christmas Smile

Maybe I'll get a pedigree one day!

I see you've already chosen but I still want to add!

I have two ragdolls adopted from battersea a few months ago. They are like little, fluffy dogs! Follow me everywhere, can't relax unless we're sitting still on the sofa and not wondering about, freak out if I close the bathroom door to go for a wee, they absolutely must be able to see you at all times!

If you want a needy, clingy cat, go for a ragdoll. (They're also beautiful)

Can I see a pic Fruit? Smile

And the photos don't even show the blue eyes that well! The white one looks like a Disney character when her eyes are wide, i nearly called her Elsa

brooklynbaby · 13/12/2016 15:19

Oh my goodness they're beautiful! And they were rescues?

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/12/2016 17:02

People rehome pedigrees, sometimes it's allergies or they're having a baby and decided the cats got to go.

I'll be getting a rescue Bengal when the time comes, lots of them get rehomed for doing normal Bengal stuff like being noisy little shitbags.

brooklynbaby · 13/12/2016 17:36

Noisy in terms of miaowing a lot? Is that a reallt daft question? Grin

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 13/12/2016 17:41

Noisy as in loud. And persistent.

He can miaow for 45 minutes while jumping up at a door handle

Fruitcocktail6 · 13/12/2016 17:41

Yes, they're rescues from battersea cats and dogs home.

I don't think they are from a bad background, but their previous family rehomed them

brooklynbaby · 13/12/2016 19:58

I think I'm going to have to get a ragdoll as well as the rescue one Blush

We have three ragdolls and adore them. The boy is an absolute beauty although they all are. They are so cuddly.

brooklynbaby · 14/12/2016 20:27

Awww lottie do you have any photos?

dailyshite · 14/12/2016 20:32

Our rag doll is a beautiful twat, he's one of those who will stare at you whilst knocking something off a shelf. He's also very loving and needy. And big. And floppy.

lottieandmia · 14/12/2016 20:44

Here's Chester in standard ragdoll sleeping position.
