What does a cat proofed garden look like?

I'm so broody for another cat. Thinking of getting a BSH or ragdoll at some point in the future but as we have 2 outdoorsy cats I think we will need the garden cat proofing first.
This is where I start to get a bit dim, what does a cat proof garden consist of?

It is generally quite hard to cat proof an outside space. Unless you're willing to build a wire cage onto the back of your house, you're looking at tall fences with a 45 degree inward facing overhang. The height should prevent them getting too high and the overhang should make it really difficult to get over if they should reach the top.

Think less tall lion enclosure.

We used secure-a-cat self installation cat 'prison'

Look at the pictures on this website:

A car proof garden looks like a normal garden if you use a barrier wire and a tracking collar for your cat

LittleBusses · 13/12/2016 19:24

They are a bad idea.

As with all collars, they can cause strangulation.

They don't prevent animal attacks from other animals getting in and potentially chasing your cat out.

They don't prevent your cat leaving - the prey drive is so high, that if a bird is fixated on prey, then they can ignore the pain and chase it ignoring the pain barrier.

Once out, the pain barrier can prevent them from coming home.

They cause pain

Just get a Persian. No need for cat proofing as they can't jump higher than the window ledge! No need for cat proofing.

Never had any of the issues you list Busses
Safe and happy cat for 7 years. Each to their own.And I wouldn't inflict pain on an animal; it's a sound alarm coupled with static & we haven't used the static beyond the first two day training period.
