I hope I haven't upset anyone with the subject header, I didn't know what else to title it.

Our beloved, very special boy has just been diagnosed with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) and we have been told there isn't a cure and he will need to be PTS to prevent any further suffering. We are devastated, he's only 7 and dearly dearly loved.

We want to have him PTS at home, in his own environment where he feels safe and comfortable, is this something most vet practices will do? If not, does anyone know of a service that will do this? We're in the south east. Cost isn't important.

Thank you, and again I hope I haven't upset anyone with this.

I'm so sorrySadFlowers.

Allow yourself to cry though and get some of your emotions out, don't bottle it up. Your doing this the kindest way possible and you sound like a wonderful pet owner.Flowers

alex i'm so sorry. We had our boy cat pts almost a year ago & I still feel a bit teary when I think about it. You are doing the right thing for him.

cozietoesie · 23/11/2016 12:27

I'm very sorry, Alex. It's hard on you but you're acting with love.

It's such an awful decision to have to make op, I was in your situation 12 days ago. My vet came out to me at home and put my poor baby to sleep. I held her whilst he did it, just one injection, and she just put her head on her paws and drifted away Sad absolutely heartbreaking but you're doing the kindest thing. Believe me when I say I know how much it hurts, I don't think i'll ever come to terms with it, but you're doing what's best for your beautiful cat. Flowers for you

I'm so so sorry. Had I known that vets did home vsisits when my last boy was PTS I would have definitely done that. Its a terrible terrible thing but you know when it's time and you have done everything you can to make it peaceful and calm.

Thinking of you.

Our gorgeous fluffy boy passed away peacefully at home shortly before 1pm today. He was the most lovely, special kitty. He brought us so much joy for 7 years and I feel the luckiest person in the world to have had him in our family. Rest in peace gorgeous angel.
