Pregnant (?) stray on uni campus

I do a part time uni course. Over summer there was a friendly but shy tabby on campus. I'm on campus again today and there was a mewling dirty tabby who looks like she could be pregnant. Not sure it's the same cat as this one tolerated some strokes. She could be owned but she looked grubby so I'm not sure she is. What can I do to help her? I can't take her home as PuffinCat would flip, and I can't feed her regularly because I live quite far away. I also forgot my purse so can't buy her food. Any advice welcome!

Sad update. The woman from the rescue just called me from the vets, where Dstray is being put to sleep Sad. She has FIP, poor thingy. The vet did a scan to check for dead kittens and then aspirated the fluid from her tummy. I suppose this would explain why she was so big and looked pregnant last Tuesday, but looked smaller on Saturday. She was very anaemic and generally not well. I am very grateful to the shelter for looking after her and giving her a warm bed for her last few days. I know we did the right thing getting her checked out and she is better off now than being so poorly and on the streets, but it still really sucks! I'm going to give PuffinCat a big fat hug now! it will not be appreciated

Oh no. How awful. But thank god you helped her. Death from FIP is horrible and you have been able to spare her the worst of the suffering.

You did a very good thing, it's just tragic that it wasn't a happier outcome.

TCN, thank you so much for taking the time to advise me on how to proceed last week! I have even more admiration for the work you do now - I'm not sure I could deal with the sadness!

Puffin, your heroics here are awesome. Poor kitty had a gentle end and saw some real love and care. Well done.

Oh Puffin. I am so sad to hear that. But so glad that you helped her during her last days. Flowers for you.

You went out of your way for this cat, you should be really proud of yourself for doing so.

Lots of people passed her by.

So sad but you did the best for her. Poor girl.

Sad for the cat, but you saved her from a lonely and painful death, at least she was warm, fed and cared for at the end.
