Kidney problems

Hi all, I am devastated as I think we are going to lose our cat. She is 6 and we have only had her 3 years. She has kidney problems and isn't responding to treatment. I am so worried, and I was really hoping that she would improve with treatment but hasn't shown any improvement. We don't have insurance (please don't flame me) so there is only so much further investigation we can do and I wouldn't want to put her through too much anyway. So my lovely little girl might not make it.

I'm so sorry. Does your vet seem competent? I wonder if a specialist may be able to help?

Regarding finances, some vets offer payment plans if you ask them (they usually won't advertise this). We took our family cat to a specialist, unfortunately on two occasions for two separate cancers/ tumours, and both times were allowed to pay the fees that weren't covered by insurance in interest free instalments. These were large bills too. Fingers crossed she shows some improvement, she's still very young

I'm really confident with the vets and only hear positive things about them. They are just very puzzled why she isn't responding, although they are sending off her blood work to a specialist lab.

She is so young, and I am so sad.. The vet said sometimes in cases like this the cat just pulls through. Hopefully she will.

I'm very sorry. I had a cat - albeit one who was much older than yours - with serious kidney problems and it was difficult indeed.

Thank you. She is at home with us now but her blood test results are really discouraging so I'm waiting to hear what the vet says.
