Where can I put the cat flap in my new house?

I'm moving into a new property. There are double glazed sliding doors into the back garden, putting a cat flap into these doors is expensive and would reduce the insulation. Are there other options? Any advice please?

Our cat flap goes through the wall!
We didn't fit it though so I've got no idea how to do it.

They are easy to put in walls.

We didn't want a cat flap and are in the house a lot of the time so we have a cat doorbel! Basically a sensor that we put outside the back door. When Henry goes next to the sensor an alarm goes off and we let him in. Works well for us

In the wall would be great! Does it make the room cold?

I can't say I've noticed any sort of difference in room temperature, no. My builder charges £50 to fit one in a wall

Excellent! I'll get one fitted in the kitchen. Exciting!

I had one in the wall in my last place. There's a flap at each end, and they go through a tunnel. If cats are used to using one with only one flap, you may have to prop one of the flaps open until they get used to it.

Never noticed a draught.

We have one in a wall, it was a bastard to fit - get someone in to do it!
