2 of them. Both girls. As yet nameless. I've not managed to take any decent photos yet, but here's one I took when I picked them up Smile

"I've never come across a female ginger tabby. I thought it was genetics that they were all male."

All tortoiseshells are females. While most gingers are males, a significant minority are female.

It's because the ginger/non-ginger gene is on the X chromosome.
Thus males only need a single ginger gene to be ginger.
Females need both their genes to be ginger for them to be visually ginger. If only one gene is ginger they become tortoiseshells. It's a result of the "Barr Body" effect (X-inactivation).

Thus a female ginger must have a ginger dad.

By the way, both kittens are cute!

A pure ginger cat are all male but all they need is a patch of white the size of a few hairs and they can be female .It could be a patch on the base of their foot anywhere does not matter weird but funny

All tortoiseshells are females

There are some tortoiseshell males but they are usually infertile and it is due to having an extra X chromosome. Approximately 1 in 3,000 apparently.

They just need 2 ginger parents.

I don't think that's strictly correct - but perhaps you know better.
And I wonder if there are any ginger cats without the tiniest patch of white.

Yes, there are sometimes anomalous intersexes, as there are in humans (Klinefelter's Syndrome etc.). And abnormally high testosterone levels may result in a female becoming visually masculinised.

But no true/normal male cats can be tortoiseshell.

A ginger female doesn't actually need both parents to have been ginger. However if both parents are ginger, then she will definitely be a ginger.

A ginger female must have had a ginger dad. But her mum could either have been ginger or a tortoiseshell.

White markings are caused (usually) by the white-spotting gene, which isn't sex-linked. So male and female gingers may or may not have some white.
