He wouldn't have been frightened of death. Cats don't have foreknowledge. He probably just didn't like the vet's much.

You'll likely have lots of 'If' thoughts, though. ('What if.....', 'If only......' etc etc.) Be calm, though. You made the best decision for him that you could.

Take care.

Thank you both, I feel a bit reassured now. I keep dreaming of his face crawling and snuggling up to me, stupid little bugger that he was.

His 'sister' has become very clingy; she adored him.

I always said 'I'd die without him'. He lit up everyone's life; strolled in, spread his love and strolled out again. He brought me birds, snakes, lizards and rats - daft little fucker!

So sorry you lost your good boy, hope you have lots of happy memories, he looks beautiful.
In respect of the guilt I think it's normal, because we have the power to do that. I'm sure you did all you could for him and everything you did was because you loved him. I had one of mine put to sleep Christmas Day and I still miss him and feel bad I might have prolonged his suffering.

Of course you miss him, he was with you every day and was part of your family, don't minimise it.
Take care
