Tomorrow morning at 9.00 we will say goodbye to our darling Maisie. We know it's time, and we don't want her to suffer, but our hearts are breaking. She is 18 years old. When DH and I got married, we got three cats - she is the last one. Tomorrow there will be no animals in our house; I have never been without a pet before. My poor girl Sad.

Yes its all those little things isn't it, they are such a part of your life. Are you going to have any sort of memorial? I ordered a lovely little pebble with a picture of a cat, and you can choose your message, mine just says Molly RIP. Its perfect as she was a little cat, we buried her ashes and put the stone on top. Helps me to think she is at peace in our front garden where she loved to sit.

We still have the ashes from our boy cat, Ollie, who died several years ago - I haven't done anything with them as I knew we'd be moving, and I didn't want to leave him behind. We've decided that, when Maisie's ashes come back, we're going to buy two big pots and two beautiful rose bushes, and bury one set of ashes under each bush. I wanted to mix the ashes, but DH pointed out that she didn't actually like him that much, so probably wouldn't want to be mixed with him for all eternity! The idea behind the bushes in pots is we can take them with us if we have to move again, (we're in a rented house).

That sounds absolutely perfect Smile and somewhere you can always remember your dear cats.

The roses are a lovely idea, all ours are buried in the garden where they loved to sit in the sun. We lost our 18 yr old boy last year and 19 yr old eighteen months the before there were lots of tears and like you I kept hearing their paws/claws on the wood flooring. I couldn't be without any fur babies so we adopted 2 from the Cats Action Trust in January.
I'll never forget our two old boys they were part of our family for such a long time and I think they would wish another cat(s) to have a good home too.
