cat bullying frog

My 1yo female rescue keeps bringing the same frog into the house. I usher that frog out 2 or 3 times everyday.
Last night I locked the catflap, within 5 mins of unlocking it this morning I heard the scream of the frog in the hallway.
I am pretty certain it is the same frog as I get a good look at its markings as I usher it out.
this is a new build house, so it was a building site from a year before we moved in. There used to be an office block here so this place has never been a frog habitat.
When will the cat bore of the frog?
Or when will the frog hop off?
Even my 3yo DD is bored of finding the frog in the house.

Drive the frog to a nearby pond. Or a far away one might be better, actually.

Frogs don't actually live in ponds, they only use them for breeding.

I looked at the frog enthusiasts website. Their advice if you have a resident frog is to install a pond. Errr no. Nothing about how to move on a frog.

I thought my cat was murdering a small child when he brought a frog into the house. He'd obviously brought the poor thing into my bedroom, because he was gently patting it, as it was trying to escape his ministrations, hopping down the stairs. And it screamed and tried to bite me with it's little gummy mouth when I rescued it.

I shall never forget those screams. They're truly haunting aren't they . Our cat kept bringing one inside, I was shocked at the sound they make. Poor thing, hopefully they don't die from shock like the birds do.

ps it was like the Alien film at one point, the frog jumped at the cats face.

Aaahhhh that's quite cute - my old cat used to bring them in dead and we'd find a petrified star shaped hard frog carcass regularly under the sofas!!! There was no mercy for frogs, fish, birds, rats and mice from her!!
Can you buy or make him or her a frog house to hide in!?

I'm afraid that they have 'ancestral routes' - like toads. The office block was probably 20th century - it barely signifies.

Sorry - I should add that that was what I've been told. My only direct personal experience was with toads. Lots of them. Masses of them.

My two constantly bring in frogs from around the pond, but the odd thing is I've never heard them scream ... play dead until I've rescued them, yes, but no noise at all

It's probably a good job as I didn't know they could do this and I'd probably have died of fright, but I wish I could hear it just once - only to know what it's like IYSWIM?

Your cat isn't bullying6 the frog. It is hunting the poor bugger with intent to kill^ it. The cat will bore of it only when the frog is well and truly dead and no longer hops and flaps enticingly.

Stop putting the poor frog back in the garden and take it well away (a minimum 500 m, say). Leave it somewhere sheltered and leafy. Then teach your cat Bhudism.

my 11mo cat has bought me 2 in the last few days, one was very dead, todays was alive and i had to fish it out from under the bloody sofa and return it to the pond in the garden!

BorpCat2 brought the same frog in 2 days in a row recently. No screaming, just total stillness from the frog. The frog was rescued and the cat locked in for most of the rest of the day, but to no avail - froggie was found dead and half-eaten in the garden on day 3.

It's always frogs and slow worms and bluetits. I wouldn't mind if he killed mice but he just chases them around for literally hours before letting them go. And he brings them in to the garden from elsewhere so as not to deplete the garden's healthy mouse population.

Mine was full of life, and kept hopping out of my hands (try keeping hold of a slippery amphibian without hurting it!) and screaming at me, his saviour!

I took it to the churchyard at the front of the house, because the kitties aren't allowed out the front. Lots of damp grass for him to recover from his fright.

Little M had put it in my bedroom, imagine waking up to that hideous screaming! I'd have thought there was a Banshee under my bed!

I didn't know frogs could play dead either, until I went to brush one of the cats' victims onto a dustpan and the blasted thing leapt at me

Frogs scream? Something to look forward to then, we've had snails, slugs, birds, spiders, bees and tail feathers of wood pigeons so far

Yes Dame, freaked me right out. I'd just arrived home, and heard screaming. which sounded like a small child. On investigation, it was Little Monsieur patting frog gently down the stairs. It screamed at me as well, and tried to bite me in a gummy way, whilst in the process of rescuing it.

Ungrateful bastard.

I was once sitting in my mums dining room next to an open window when her gorgeous (now sadly deceased) ginger tom literally threw a live frog through the window at me and DH. It took an hour of chasing it round the room, moving furniture etc to catch and evict it, no screaming though fortunately. I would remove your cats froggy victim to a more distant location OP, better for all concerned.

I can't help laffing at these froggy stories.

I think their skin has something repulsive in it, so they don't get eaten.

And Garbadgeman, your mum's cat probably thought he was doing you a favour, flinging a frog into your dining room. Frog's legs anyone?

We'd like a pond but the cat would just eat the contents.
