Will this kitten be ok?

Someone I know got a kitten last week from her local rescue, 12 weeks and cute as a button.. yay, except...

She's now gone on holiday for 9 days!! There is an automatic feeder which replays a voice message when it opens and she's asked her mum to pop in once a day but I am so worried for this little one.

Surely he shouldn't be on his own all day except for an hour or so when her mum pops in? I worry for his socialisation and last night, DS woke me up in the early hours and I couldn't get back to sleep thinking of this little baby who has been taken from the only home he's known and is now left in a big, empty house?

Am I overeacting (I so hope I am) or would this make you concerned too. I wouldn't do this with my cat who is along 8 years old!

What would you do? I want to scoop him up and bring him here but my cat just wouldn't cope, I work outside the home as well and I don't have a spare room I could lock him in - and couldn't keep my boy inside.

It is so bothering me Sad

I'm just looking at my youngest, and remembering how small and defenseless he looked at that age. We didn't take a holiday at all that year, because we'd made the commitment to having our little lad and getting him nicely adjusted and settled. He slept between DH and me for his first few months.

Like Moon says, he must be so lonely. Sad

Just to update - a friend of the mum is down this week so he has been going in both morning and evening whilst she works so he has had more company the last few days. Owner is back on Sunday (or Monday maybe).

And if I sounded like I was overreacting, then sorry (that was my main reason for posting, to see if I was being stupid) but he sounded so small and it didn't sound like real thought had been put behind his care whilst she was away. Also, I'd spent a sleepless couple of hours worrying which is never a good time to post.

I am also worried about his ongoing care but I guess we'll see what happens. He will be loved (she has an animal mad young DD) but whether that results in the best care, not sure.

Thanks for all comments everyone..
