Water fountain

Just looking for some advice please. Can anyone recommend me a water fountain? We've never had one before but one of my cats has blood in her urine (it's under investigation by the vet; ultrasound tomorrow) and I thought it might help things in the long term if I can encourage her to drink more water.

Well I did find she drunk more water but she's a good drinker anyway. The cat mate takes around 1250 mls to fill. Tap water means the filter goes horrible quicker and you'll still have to change it dailyish. Bottled water it stays clear longer but only a few days. You get 2 filters in a box and I got around 3 weeks out of one.

You can add water to their food.

My cat refused to go in the kitchen when the fountain was on. There wasn't a hope in hell of him drinking from it so it was given to a friend.

I've been looking at getting Ernie a Catit water fountain. He is good at drinking but is fascinated by running water. He will drink out of anything including any manky water he finds in the garden, off DS's water slide, out of my cut down milk carton...that was funny, as he used to get it stick on his head and tip it on him, though has figured it out now. He licks water drops off any surface

Try a normal glass of water. My pair love theirs

Thanks for that. Think I'll try the glass of water first and see if that works. It'll be a lot cheaper if it does!

The ultrasound showed up bladder stones so we've got some food to try and dissolve them. Fingers crossed it works as don't think the cat or my bank balance can take any more visits to the vet.

2 of my 4 drink from it with 1 of them loving it so much she just sits there with her head under it. I got one for my sisters cats and they didn't like it. Maybe try them with a running tap first and see if they like that?

My cat has this one and it is on a timer. He will sit beside it and wait for it to come on, even though he could drink normally from it in the meantime if he wanted.

He suffered from frequent idiopathic cystitis and I tried different foods, feliway, litter trays, water fountain etc but have had lots of success with Urinary Control by Royal Canin - no bouts in almost three years. Hope your cat feels much better soon.

I bought one for Siamboy who loves water dribbled from taps. He ignored it completely. Wouldn't even glance in its direction, I gave up after 3 months & packed it away. It was a faff to clean out so I wasn't that sorry.

Last night I let DD use the foot spa as part of a home pedicure, Guess who was delightedly dipping his paws in and trying to drink the water (before the foot soak powder went in)?!

No advice on fountains buy I place bowls/ cups of water ( not plastic bowls) around the house away from the food. They're more likely to drink if water isn't near their food- can't remember why.
