Ollie cat...

Has managed to ramp up the vet bills even more by getting an abscess Hmm
I touched his shoulder and he went to bite me. Thought that's odd. Poked shoulder and he howled
So off to vet (after being spat at by him Blush) and she scruffed him. As she did that and pushed fur apart, it burst spectacularly everywhere
Lord knows how the bloody Ollie cat has got this as its 2 weeks since he came home so too long for it to be then and he's barely been out since Confused

Maybe he did get it on his little sojourn. It's a long time but then he's a cat of so many medical mysteries! (The tooth etc.) Wink

hollinhurst84 · 07/07/2016 23:07

Also a man of much cost Hmm
He was awful, was trying to get him in the carrier without touching it. I gave up and made a trail of dreamies which worked perfectly Grin
Poor vet took the brunt of the abscess and it was rather large

Probably is an injury he got while missing and it's takes a while to show its self.. Poor boy.

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/07/2016 06:49

It must've been slowly growing, how is he today?.

hollinhurst84 · 08/07/2016 07:38

Sulking at having to sleep on a towel. So he's got one paw off it in a show of defiance Hmm
Little quiet but seems in less pain

A large abscess is a ......not unserious source of pain and infection so it may take a day or two to get over it even though it's now burst. Did the vet give him any treatment?

hollinhurst84 · 08/07/2016 07:43

Yes, antibiotics and metacam? Plus he had two jabs, he's to start the actual tablets tonight

OP posts:
hollinhurst84 · 08/07/2016 07:43

This is half the abscess hole - the other half is covered by fur

Ah. They'd zonk him just a little as well. Poor lad - give him a couple of days.

You have to give him pills?

hollinhurst84 · 08/07/2016 07:47

In his food Grin
After the performance he put on towards the vet she very carefully asked if I could give him them, then supplied me with liquid metacam and tablets that can be crushed

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 08/07/2016 07:54

Ha! Seniorboy won't take them in any shape or form - Goodness knows why he's accepted his current meds but he has, thankfully. (And not all pills can really be crushed up and eaten.)

hollinhurst84 · 08/07/2016 08:01

I haven't got enough hands Grin
I can get liquid in him but tablets are a no go. She didn't question me after seeing the hissing spitting ball of fury

TobleroneBoo · 08/07/2016 08:04

Poor Ollie! Hope he feels better soon but have to say I am laughing at the one defiant paw off the towel! Bloody cats Grin

hollinhurst84 · 08/07/2016 08:06

He's annoyed because he usually sleeps ON me and it was obviously too sore to do that and get comfy
(He likes to sleep on my side with his head in my neck and purr loudly)

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 08/07/2016 08:33

Give him a day or two. The abscess may have burst - and his behaviour gives you some idea of the pain he was in beforehand - but it will still take a short while to ease off properly.

hollinhurst84 · 08/07/2016 08:35

Definitely. He showed absolutely no signs until yesterday so he's quite stoic

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 08/07/2016 08:35

You do realise that it will all be your fault I hope? Grin

hollinhurst84 · 08/07/2016 08:41

Oh yes. I've already had the look whilst he hid under the coffee table
A nice glare at me every so often
He's too soft to do it for long, he came out from the hiding spot to give me kisses

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 08/07/2016 08:57

It's not always so easy having a bonded cat. Sad They look to you to provide them with what they want - and if you don't do it, they oftentimes - especially if they're bright - try to work out why you're not. (Have they done something wrong etc etc?) Hey Ho.

hollinhurst84 · 08/07/2016 08:59

Um Blush I think he's quite bright
I've been doing clicker training. And I've taught him sit Blush
The first time I clicked as he was shifting his weight so he then offered me a paw a few times before the human got her shit together Grin

isamonster · 08/07/2016 10:53

Aww - he'll be fine though it is a nasty thing. Happened to a kitten I fostered - right on her neck and exploded on the way to vets. Probably a small fighting wound. She did fine though I felt horribly responsible for not having noticed till it was huge.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/07/2016 21:58

Is he all better now?.

hollinhurst84 · 15/07/2016 23:42

Still an open wound but he says yes thank YOU hooman and here's his best pretty pwease cuddle me face
Also bliss having kisses with his hooman
