Cat in or out at night?

We've recently moved house. DCat has just finished her 2 weeks of confinement. Unfortunately we realised at the 11th hour that our plans for the cat flap won't work, so now we've got to wait 2 weeks to have cat flaps installed in 2 panes of glass.
Do we leave her in or out at night? She's about 6 years old (RSCPA cat, we've had her 5 years), used to going in and out as she pleases and I'm worried she'd get fed up of being inside at night for another 2 weeks.
We can make a shelter for her outside but I've noticed a male cat in the garden today who might bother her (she's spayed). I'm a SAHM so she has plenty of chance to do what she wants during the day.

I would definitely keep her in at night. She will be safe, and she has outside time in the day so won't be deprived.

In. Always in.

We lock ours in the utility room overnight.

I'd keep in at night until you have the cat flap sorted, it's still very new for her.

In for me. (The Lodger, who was used to living on the streets, reacted very well to being kept in because he knew he'd get outside in the morning. He developed a routine. Smile)

Thank you. In it is then.
Our last house was so easy access-wise, I'm kicking myself for not realising sooner what we needed to do.

In until you have the cat flap sorted. I shut mine in the utility room with his bed, food and water as he goes out at 4am. If we keep him in he wakes the whole house up!!

In if you can. Even with a cat flap. Most road accidents happen at night.

mummytime · 24/05/2016 14:15

Its better to keep them in at night even if you have a flap. There are road accidents, animals (foxes will attack cats), and weirdos (nasty things happening to cats around London).

In always. Cat flap or no.
More likelihood of being involved in fights, road accidents or animal attacks.
