The litter tray

  1. how often do you clean the litter tray? As in a full on disinfect job rather than just removing the poo/wee?

  2. if you have more than one cat, do you follow the one litter tray per cat plus one extra rule? I have two indoor cats (for medical reasons) in a two bedroom flat and they have two litter trays but never use one of them. They're exactly the same tray in similar (non busy) locations but they both seem to like using the same one. We're low on space as it is so I might axe the second one - yay or nay?

  3. how do you keep on top of cat hair? My cats are long haired birmans. They basically explode hair. Didn't care much before but we have a six week old DS and I'm constantly fishing hairs off his clothes and out of his mouth!!!

    TIA Smile

We keep the grooming brush on the cat tree so when cat has a sleep we sneak up and give him a brush. It's so good for them.

Lucy doesn't like a cat tree, she only likes destroying carboard boxes by biting chunks off and throwing them down the back of the desk in the study - she likes to sleep on the desk so she can nosy out the window at the same time.

Or she sleeps in the basket upstairs which must have a steady supply of DS2s discarded clothing. He must have a smell she likes, He can't leave anything anywhere and she is on it like a rocket - it was his bloody school tie the other week and she ripped his hands to shreds when he tried to take it back to wear to school.

2 indoor cats, 2 litter trays. I keep them in the bathroom. original kitty has a big covered one, and I added another smaller tray when Thing 2 came to stay. I scoop as needed and empty out once a week. cats are grim and like a slightly stinky tray but Milton is a good compromise.

luckily neither of them sheds too much!

I use litter tray liners, they make it so easy! Just lift it out and tie up like a bag, then the tray is always clean.
Fortunately, given her other bad habit (bringing in endless dead things), our cat hardly sheds at all so at least we're winning in one area!

They look quite young. My oldie was the one who didn't like the baby crying... He's 17 next week...

Here they are back before dd. The chocolate point adored dd but sadly died of FIP three years ago... Less fur to deal with but I miss her...

Toasty ours likes to bring in endless live things and then kill them in the house - she is a total gobshite. If she wasn't so damned fucking fluffy and cute she's have been given her marching orders years ago. :o
