We have two older lady cats, around 12 and 13, both still in good health. Two years ago we rescued a feisty youngster who was about a year old. One of the girls reacted very badly to him, lost a lot of weight and didn't want to come into the house. Rescue boy sadly died from acute renal failure, possibly due to eating some poison. Now we're thinking of getting a kitten. Are the girls likely to react better to a small kitten than to a confident one year old cat? Would it be better to get two kittens so that they can entertain each other? The kittens we are considering are being hand reared in a household with other cats and dogs, if that makes any difference.
