Is there any truth in the coat colour linked to personality theory?

We are soon to be getting a kitten from a friend's litter (female escaped before she had been spayed). We have the choice of a tortie girl or a black and white boy. I love torties, always have and that would be my choice - apart from the mad tortie stereotype. We already have a very sociable, laid back boy cat, and young children (three year old dd adores cats), so obviously my priority is picking one which will hopefully be a nice family cat. I'm wondering if I should get the black and white as he might be more laid back, or if the coat colour/personality theory is all bollocks? Thoughts please?

I went to click on this thinking it meant the colour of your coat as in clothing wise.

I sat puzzled for a few mins as to why it was in the litter tray section Blush.

She is so cute that any craziness will be forgiven!

I'm not sure I hold any truck with the personality theory but our tortie & white was a little loopy. In a totally adorable way though.

I've got a tabby and white who is grumpy, greedy and lazy.

Tuxedo boy who's an absolute nutcase, but very affectionate.

Have a mainly white with torrty splotches cat.

She eats sleeps in dh wardrobe all day... Plays fetch with the kids and loves a laser pen..... She also point blank refuses to go more than a meter from the house.
