Do all cats use the litter tray within 30 secs of it being cleaned?

I find that no matter what time of day I clean the litter tray, the cat manages to, er, have a deposit for me within about 30 secs of me replacing it.

Is my cat just doing it to show me who's boss (I'm new to cat ownership) or is this common? Is there some sort of cat psychology reasoning behind the behaviour?

Thanks for the tip Cozie. She obliged in the Katcor this morning while I was in the shower but unfortunately while I was getting sample from tray she did a disgusting turd on the bathmat then threw up. I think she knows she's going to the vets this afternoon.....

I'm (sort of) lucky. Mine share a litter tray...ignored the 2nd one, but pee and crap copiously in my flower-beds. Killing off my lavender, then my lovely honeysuckle. Once they've decimated one plant, they put out a hit on another one. Sad

Good thing I love the dickheads. If they touch DH's memorial roses, I'll be having a word with them.

Absolutely. Mine waits anxiously while I change the litter, then hops on board before I've left the room and squeezes out whatever's available - sometimes it's the tiniest wee, or a poo like a pea. It's so irritating but yet so adorable Confused

Oh yes, anything to cause the most irritation basically.

Cliffdiver · 23/03/2016 05:58

Yes! When we had a cat she did this.
