Cat weeing anywhere

We have a Persian boy ball of fluff. He will be two in April. He has started to wee anywhere (as well as in his trays). Not spraying up but squatting & weeing. Generally not really in the day but from about 7pm. All vaccinations up to date, kidneys fine, weight fine. He eats the Royal canin Persian food. He is going in to be neutered this week.
I am really hoping this will resolve it,has anyone got any other advice?
We clean the areas with simple solution stuff to neutralise the area.
He's such a sweet natured pussycat & ds really loves him but the permanent weeing is getting me down.

I thought I'd give an update. One week on & only one wee outside of his trays. The howling miaowing at night has also stopped completely.
Today is his first day by himself with no company,we decided to let him have a few rooms left open that are normally shut when we go out (due to the weeing). Fingers crossed!!

That's an improvement. Did the neutering go OK?

Yes,I got a urine test done at the same time just in case it was a uti that had come on. All fine.
The change in behaviour is quite staggering. There would be sometimes at least 5-10 little puddles every night. Poor puss was feeling like he should be out sowing his wild oats Wink

Seriously conflicted it sounds like. Poor lad.

Give it a little longer still to see how it pans out. (Allowing the hormones to die down fully.) It sounds promising so far though. Smile

PS - and lots of praise if you're around when he uses his tray. He's got to learn some different behaviour patterns so a little positive reinforcement from you wouldn't come amiss.

Yes I am so pleased. He's such a lovely sweet natured cat but the weeing & screeching were driving me crazy.

Glad to hear it's resolved. Had a similar problem with my fluffy too - turned out he didn't like the enclosed litter trays and liked to pee in the open. A couple of new litter trays without lids sorted that! Also I totally agree with the PP who said you need 1 more litter tray than cats. Mine pee on the floor if the other cat has so much as glanced at a tray - funny, fussy buggers!

Yes,in between praising ds & the cat I am a one woman praise machine!

Grin

(Just be careful that he doesn't become too emotional and excited by the praise - you don't need to undo all the good work. That's the cat I'm referring to. Wink)
