Unvaxed cat

Our beloved cat is 3 (nearly) We have had him since he was 12 weeks and he is healthy, wormed and flea treated regularly.

For reasons of circumstances we didn't get him his first set of vaccinations. Kept intending to and never got around to it. He has never been to the vet either. I'm really mortified about this and want to rectify it. Will the vet give me an earful? I'm worried that they will consider me an unfit owner and call RSPCA on the basis of this. Could this happen?

From what my vet says, most people do not worm their cats regularly &
a large minority of cats don't get regular jabs.

My eyes are going I thought this thread said unwaxed cat!

Please get him neutered as soon as possible. As others have said the majority of stray cats are unneutered male cats, and they are more at risk of FIV.

My Mum's cat had his jabs before she adopted him but hasn't had boosters and isn't flea'd or wormed. Although he will sit with you no one can catch him to take him to the vet as he's terrified so we just have to hope for the best.

An annual booster is the only way to protect him and you should include the FELV vaccine for an outdoor car. Feline Leukaemia is a horrible disease and far more likely than any other disease in an unvaccinated cat.

Ty tcn I thought it was something like that.

Good luck OP.

They do go to the pdsa etc wen they get ill but they rarely don't.

I was like you and the vet didn't tell me off. Just go.

I inherited my cat when my mum died and he was 10 and had always been indoor. I know he was registered with a vet with her but I just didn't think.

I had him for nearly a year, letting him go into the secure back garden, before I realised that cats and other animals used the garden too and he might pick something up. Also I wondered if I might might bring things in on my feet.

When I got there she said his teeth were awful Blush. I knew but I was afraid of anaesthetic for him because he's getting on and didn't seem to be in any pain. Again, she didn't tell me off. She just said that they really needed to come out and I wasn't doing him any favours.

Anyway, he had the vaccinations and went back for a GA and tooth extraction. I was really worried but when I walked in he was awake and yowling to come home Smile.

Please get your cat neutered though.

I pass a notice for a lovely-looking cat called Pudding every day. He's been missing since October and they keep replacing the posters. Apart from all the other things about him it says that he's unneutered and I just think he's wandered far away and probably been killed Sad.
