DP and I had to go to our pet shop today. Turns out they were having a cat rehoming day with our local animal rescue. We were determined, determined that we were getting no more cats. Until our lovely pet shop owner introduced us to Panther. Five months old, he's been rehomed three times. Apparently he's hard work and needs lots of attention, so all the previous people returned him to the rescue. One of them said that he kept climbing on to their chihuahua for cuddles Grin.

So, we've given them our information and are waiting for them to decide if we're the right home for Panther.

I must be mad. We started with one, and swore we'd have no more. Then two was going to be enough. Now it'll hopefully be three Grin. Even DP, who was very adamant that there would be no more kitties, is mad about him and dying to bring him home.

Good for you. I'm sure you'll be the right home for Panther.

Three is nothing. Nothing I tell you!

We've had 4 at once, it was ok and he sounds like he needs an experienced owner.

3 Homes in 5 months is a lot. Lets hope 4 is the magic number.

Hard work could mean normal energetic tom with attitude.

thecatnuterer, you gave me so much advice when we took in BigPuss (I had a different MN name then)! I was completely clueless and your advice was amazing.

Fluffy, 4 will definitely be the magic number. DP and I discussed it a lot, and decided that we could only offer to have him if we were 100% certain that we could be his forever home. He doesn't need any more upheaval. So, even if he is difficult, we'll persevere with him. I think he just has loads of energy and wants constant cuddles.

Oh, hooray! Just heard from the animal rescue. They will phone me tomorrow to sort out logistics, and then Panther will be coming home with us. We've got 10 kilos of dry kitten feed and a spare litter tray, so we're ready for him.

Hooray for Panther! Is he black?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 13/09/2015 21:15

I'm so pleased Panther is going to have his forever home! Looking forward to pictures

ShadowsCollideIsSurroundedByAd · 13/09/2015 21:22

timtam, he is black all over. And gorgeous. Our LittlePuss is black with white socks. We can't wait to bring our wee Panther home! These are his little adopted sisters Grin

He's gorgeous! I love black cats and I'll never understand why they are so hard to rehome. I hope he's soon settled in.

OctoberCupcake · 13/09/2015 21:57

Aaah Panther is the spitting image of our DCat! Best of luck with him :D

ShadowsCollideIsSurroundedByAd · 13/09/2015 22:10

Isn't he a handsome divil! I know, Pink, I'll never understand why it's so difficult to home a black cat. They are gorgeous! Can't wait to get him all settled in. No doubt he'll soon be doing what LittlePuss does, pinning me to the sofa whilst nestling in between my boobs Grin.

Thanks, October. Can't wait to get the little lad home Grin

hes georgous im sure that the people who have brought him back have been inexperienced people who dont realise how lively kittens are, and the purrfect cat lady number of cats is 4 resident cats, a mom and four 3 week old foster kittens (my house at the moment till november)

ShadowsCollideIsSurroundedByAd · 13/09/2015 22:58

I think that's it, issey. They thought that they were bringing home a little fluffy toy, then discovered that he had needs of his own. So they couldn't provide the love and attention he needs.

Fair play to you for fostering, it's a wonderful thing to do. I'd love to do it, but DP reckons I'd get far too attached and want to keep all the foster babies. I had a cuddle with a kitten needing fostering today, she was such a warm cuddly little bundle.

at our rescue we have had kittens brought back becuase poeple have omg hes too lively (der hes a kitten) and yes i lopve fopstering but you have to steel yourself to giving back georgous little fluffballs (even the hissy spitty feral born ones are cute) so you have to be able to do that, well good luck with panther hes adorable

PorcupineNecktie · 13/09/2015 23:37

Oh he's lovely, and hooray for him finding his forever home!
