Adopting a mother and kitten

I'm strongly considering (i.e. going to) adopt an older cat. The lovely girl in question has just had her first litter, poor little thing is only 6 months. She has 4 kittens and when I went to visit at the fosterers one of them seemed to decide I was her human.
Has anyone got experience of rehoming a mother cat and kitten. At the moment the kittens are only 5 weeks so it will be a few weeks before they are ready to move in!

I've got a few mothers and offspring in my huge collection of cats. It generally makes for quite a good pairing. Is there something you're worried about?

I'd do it. I've rescued/fostered lots of mother/kitten combos. Can't think of any downsides to it at all.

I've only had an older cat in the past - she was 6 months(ish) when I got her (she is no longer with me). I'm just a little cautious about adopting a kitten as I have no experience of it.
I've read about cats being solitary but the evidence I've seen suggests that they enjoy being together. Mum and kitten seem to have a very strong bond and I think it would be nice for them to stay together.
Do you have any advice before going ahead?
I'm worried about silly things like the kitten getting lost behind bookshelves or chewing wires!!

We adopted a mother cat and kitten 2 years ago, with no previous 'cat experience'. They spend a lot of time curled up together, both inside and out. She does appear to have learnt a significant degree of grumpiness from her mother though!
