Kitten is not eating enough

My kitten has stopped eating her Natures Menu chicken wet food and will only eat a little of the Applaws dry food I give her and she meows at me as if she wants something else.

She is 5 months old. She seems fine in herself otherwise. I am concerned that she is not eating so much though because when she came to us she was small and was playing catch up.

Any ideas?

Sounds like normal cat capriciousness but keep an eye on whether she's pooing and weeing ok and check in with the vet if you're not happy.
All being equal, I'd suggest chase/hunt type play before mealtime to work up an appetite. Make sure she's drinking plenty if her new preference is for dry food.

Thank you. She does seem to drink quite a lot and I always make sure her water dish is topped up. She's going in the litter box fine with no obvious problems I can see.

Sounds like you have a good eye on her. Poo and wee are usually the best indicators Grin. Maybe the little darling just prefers dry food. Until she changes her mind, that is.

Yes, I do think cats are known for being fussy aren't they?

The thing to do is buy the most expensive poncy hard to source organically produced cat food.

She'll eat that until you buy the economy size pack at which point they go off it. Forever.

Yes that's pretty much what happened! I tried to get the best I could initially.

Sounds familiar! My cats eat certain brands of food for weeks until I buy a huge multipack of it, when they decide they'd rather eat fluff off the carpet than touch any of it.

I switch brands and it works for a while until the same thing happens again. I find I cycle through about 3-4 brands and by the time they've refused the 4th, I can feed them the leftovers of the 1st brand and they'll wolf it down Grin

Well I have her some chicken yesterday and she wolfed that down. So I don't think there is much wrong with her - just fussy I guess!
