Kitten biting

I know it's to be expected but how can I stop her from biting my fingers.

As soon as she does I put her down, so not to encourage her. I also get her some toys to play with.

She is around 7 weeks old so I know this is normal and please don't suggest punishment as I am dead against this.

She's very young to have left her mum. She's playing with you like she'd play with the rest of the litter. She'll grow out of it but I don't think you can train her unless you only handle her after a play session so she's tired.

There's a kitten size kicker toy made by Kong Toys. Sorry, can't link from phone. You should be able to find it on Amazon. That might help.

You'll feel a bit daft but try acting like her mother cat and yowl at her if she hurts you. This helps her establish boundaries and understand when she's gone too far. And yep, I'm a crazy cat lady :)

I don't mind acting like a cat if needs be.

I know she is young to leave her mother, but I got fooled by the mother's owner.

I have had many sleepless nights with her and adore the ground she walks on.

When she came to us she was riddled in fleas and worms, the first day she at the vets because of this.

She deserves the best life a cat can have.

Piper, sounds like a lucky, lovely kitty to me.

With in 10 days I have got her litter trained. Eating and drinking as she should.

She was less than 1/2 kg but she is now putting on weight and looking a lot better.

Piper our kitten sounds very similar to yours, she is almost 10 weeks old and came to us in a similar condition to yours at around 7 weeks.

She took about 10 days to get well (after worms/fleas/ticks etc) but now she constantly plays, climbs, runs and play fights when you touch her. If she bites me (which is most time you try and stroke her when playing) I usually say 'ouch' is a high voice which makes her stop for a moment whilst I remove my hand! I think this is probably normal and like other posters think mum would have taught how much is acceptable if they were still with them.

So maybe we just need to be more cat mum like and let them know if they are too rough :)

I can't help but laugh at her when she does it though her eyes are pools of pure mischief!

We did the yowling back to our young kitten and it worked. He's 3 now and the most wonderful friendly cat.

Ours was just like this, I hissed at him and pulled my hand away when he did it and it seemed to discourage him. He still responds to that if he occasionally gets carried away. My OH plays a bit more roughly with him and let the cat nibble his hand, and the cat (now a year old) has learnt that he plays more gently with me than OH, which I thought was quite interesting.
