Just adopted a cat... But no sign of her!

So today we went to the shelter and fell in love with a little 1 1/2 yr old female and brought her home. Of course she immediately disappeared into the darkest corner of the house. We are beginning to get a bit concerned though because there's no sign of her at all!

Tell me this is normal....

What a beauty! Looks likes she's settling in nicely Smile You are being very kind & patient with her OP and that's what counts.

PestoCat1 took a full 2 months before he was brave enough to venture out from under my bed. PestoCat2 took a full 5 minutes before he came out & was rubbing himself all round my legs. Both were rescues, but they are all so different!

Perfectly normal behaviour to hide at first, even for non-rescue cats.

We eventually found ours INSIDE the sofa - there was a small hole at the Base of the lining we didn't even know existed. No need to find the hiding place if there is evidence of food eaten and healthy poo made. Peace and quiet will eventually make it seem safe enough to come out.

She's gorgeous! Smile

I think I'd maybe try another tray - to cope with the nighttime yowling. Or at any rate to attempt to cope with it. (She seems as if she's a bit of a fusspot with her tray - which could be explained if she was semi-feral.) It shouldn't affect her desire to go outside if she wants to eventually.

(Although I should warn you that most of my outside-going cats have preferred to do their duty inside the house.)

Just wanted to let you know that she's become a real lap cat! Nearly tolerates the small dc too! She chills out more everyday...

Well done her - and you all. Smile
