Does anyone have a Maine Coon?

Our cat had to be puts last week, a total shock and very unexpected.

Since we're not planning to get another cat until after our holiday in September, I gave all his food to the local CPL lady. This is the first time we have been without a cat for 27 years so I was chatting to her about her 9 (!) cats.

She mentioned that they have a rescue Maine Coon cross who has just gone to them for rehoming when his health has been checked.

Would it be mad to have a look at him? I've only ever had standard moggies - although surely 4 mogs = one Maine Coon!

Has he got snowshoe in him, BB ?

BeautifulBatman · 22/07/2015 22:30

Not that I know of cozie. He was from a rescue, I got him when he was 14 weeks old. Tbh I wasn't sure what a snowshoe cat was and just googled it. I don't think so but omg how cute are they???

BeautifulBatman · 22/07/2015 22:31

It's meant to be blackbird Grin

Speaking of fluffy ruffs.... Grin

(Obie was still in disgrace at this point having been trapped in a neighbour's house for 5 days... and his sister was really cross with him.. can't you tell?!)

I spend hours grooming them and they both look like ragbags most of the time!

I only clicked on this thread to see photo's Grin. They are magnificent! I'm not sure what my 7kg JR dog would make of a 10kg cat though Confused. She has enough problems with our 4kg moggy!

I meant to ask how he was after his escapade. Did he make much of a mess of the neighbour's house?

MedusaIsHavingaBadHairday · 22/07/2015 23:37

No! He must have pooed before he got trapped.. and had no food for 5 days. he did one wee..on the bathmat bless him (he knows that's our room to go!) so we just popped that in the wash for the lady.

She was LOVELY about it..she brought me flowers , which is ridiculous considering it was HIS fault for being such a nosy bugger!!!!!

I have what I think is a MC cross - at 8 months old he's 4.3kg...

He doesn't like to be brushed but loves baths. Gorgeous and friendly, that's our boy.

Do it, do it, do it.

Do get him. We've just (2 months ago) had our Maine Coon put to sleep at nearly 21. She'd stopped eating and drinking and when we took her to the vet, he found a mass in her abdomen.

We miss her, but aren't quite ready to get another cat yet, and don't like the French maine coons as their ears are too pointy - not to mention the cost at €1000+ for a kitten for company.

scatterthenuns · 02/08/2015 13:45

I have a mc cross and will never go back to non-fluffy cats! I love the snuggly little buggers.

Eyeing up the most gorgeous rag doll atm. DH has said no.
