Does advocate take ages to work

Or has it simply failed to work on my cat? Applied it over two weeks ago and still finding fleas on the cat. Which is depressing as we gave been fighting what seems to be a losing battle with fleas in our home. See my othe thread in housekeeping

Cat might still be picking them up from outside reservoir (nice).
Or new fleas emerging from the carpet (do you vacuum a lot).
Even with best treatment after 2-3 weeks isn't impossible to still find 'em daily.

Yeah I've been vacuuming a lot. Sigh. So sick of them!

Apparently the flea's life cycle is six weeks, so a bit to go yet.

Have you sprayed carpets and soft furnishings?

Sprayed all over the place. Sigh again.

Advocate starts working with 24 hours, but individual fleas take around 2 hours to die after coming into contact with advocate treated cat. Treating the house with Acclaim or Indorex will help to break the life cycle.

ooh, I often wondered that (how quickly the flea died). I had a feeling it really wasn't that quick so that would be another reason to see live ones even though the anti-parasite is working fine.

I've pulled a few desiccated ticks off my cats recently. So obviously the tick latched on & started to swell, only to die stuck in situ.

Ok thanks. I'll keep hoovering and assume the treatment is working!
