The litter tray

I feel like a total weirdo...

One of my cats started staying out later & later every day (since about end of March) so i walked around the neighbourhood at various times of the day until i found her 'hidey hole'

Turns out she much prefers life with a family about half a mile down the road from me, strolls in, sits on their sofa, purrs like mad & drools her head off (sign of extreme happiness for her)

The family are very nice about being converted into involuntary cat sitters & i'm very grateful to them being so nice to her.

Anyway, since i discovered where she goes i've been collecting her for her meals (after which she runs straigt back to them)

So, tonight i figured i may as well take her dinner with me & feed her round the corner from her new 'abode'

The family said 'come & see where she is' i walked in & her ladyship is sprawled out on their sofa, beckoning for me to put the bowl down :)

I feel like a giant weirdo now, turning up at their door every day & now feeding my cat in their garden & walking home without her.

She is fickle though, one minute she loves one environment & the next she comes back home, think she's part tortie :)

Anyway, i seem to be in the mood for self flagellation, pls come & agree & marvel at my weirdness on this sunny sunday evening Grin

Yes, i agree cozie, smudge wants a home like the one she's chosen now & i would be happy to let her go. She's pulled these shenanigans for years, in & out of other peoples doors & windows.

She wants to be an only cat in a family (likes kids & especially men :))

It's not something i can give her, have thought about re-homing her before but with shelters so full i won't abandon her to an unknown fate.

It's going to come down to asking the family again if they would like to give her a full-time home or I will have to find her a similar environment somehow.

Have dropped note & food for now, will knock tomorrow to see what they think of this new 'tack'

S followed me home quite happily but is sitting on the pavement opposite our house refusing to come in....sigh, what a load of buggering about.

Thanks for advice again today, will no doubt be back....

I have one of these too !

After 12 years of devoted love from Morph it has come as a bit of a shock to find that Obie eats breakfast here then pitches up 3 doors down where he spends the say in my neighbours house!!! Obie is friends with their cat ..and them!

I was a little hurt at first tbh..but he's a cat and goes where it pleaseth him Grin Their son did ask if they could keep him and we are calling it 'shared custody' now! On the other hand I know he's being loved and that's what counts. He always comes home to poo in his own litter tray though... sigh...

Heaven nowadays what time The Rotter (have renamed him) came in. Woke at 5 briefly, knew he wasn't there as he tends to lie on my feet. Woke again at 7 and he was in.

Like a good servant I lay out his breakfast and refresh his water, for him to use at his leisure.

Is this a common summer thing then?

:) WixingMords - yes, it is a summer thing in my experience, they are just so terribly BUSY this time of year (dontcha know) :)

Makes me laugh when they come in to eat & then demand to be let out again - they're still chewing on their last mouthful of dinner as well!

I can't get my lot in for love nor money atm then I get meaowed awake at anywhere between 2 & 4 am (windows open, no catflap though)

Some nights i'm just too darn tired to go back down & open the door again so they stay out.

Droping off smudges food went well, dropped some more in tonight & had another chat with 'chosen' family they say they are happy to feed & house her but will be moving soon & don't want her permanently.

Which is fair enough, thanked them for facilitating her holiday and said this episode has shown me what smudge really wants & needs so i will start looking for a similar environment to re-home her to now.
